Black Friday Dress Deals: What to Look for Before You Buy

A good Black Friday deal on the wrong dress is still the wrong dress.

Every sale season follows the same pattern. Shoppers spend days comparing percentages, then place an order in a hurry, and the problems show up later: a color that looked different on screen, a size picked without measuring, or a dress that arrives after the event. None of those problems are about the discount.

At Missacc, we make our dresses in our own factory, and most of them are hand-sewn to order. That gives us a close view of where sale-season orders go right and where they go wrong. This guide covers the four things we would check before using any Black Friday code, whether you are shopping for a bridesmaid dress, a mother of the bride look, or something for a holiday party.

If you want to see what is currently on offer first, our sale page is the place to start. Then come back here before you check out.

1. Start With Your Event Date, Not the Discount

This is the step most Black Friday guides skip, and it matters most.

Many of our dresses are made to order. Production takes 10 to 15 days, and that is before shipping. Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday on November 30. An order placed on Cyber Monday finishes production around December 10 to 15, and then it still has to ship to you. Sale-week order volume is high for every retailer, so build in a cushion.

Count backward from your event instead:

Event date, minus time for alterations, minus shipping, minus production (10 to 15 days). Whatever is left is your real deadline. The sale end date is not.

Here is how that plays out for common events:

Your eventHow we would approach the sale
New Year’s Eve or a late-December partyBlack Friday or Cyber Monday still works if color and size are already settled. Order that week, not the week after.
Winter wedding (December to February)Order during Black Friday week and leave room for alterations. Do not wait for a second round of sales.
Spring 2027 weddingBlack Friday is a good fit if your palette is final. If it is not, order swatches now and buy once the colors are locked.
Needed within daysSkip the sale math. Look for styles tagged “Ship in 48hrs,” or ask about our 48-hour rush option.

If your event is close, a smaller discount on a dress that arrives on time is a better deal than a bigger one that arrives late.

2. Read What the Sale Actually Covers

A percentage on a banner tells you very little. Before you add anything to your cart, check:

  • Which styles are included. Is the offer sitewide or limited to select styles or categories?
  • Whether it applies to your order type. Custom sizing, rush production, and accessories are worth checking separately.
  • Whether offers can be combined. Some promotions do not stack.
  • How the return window works. Our return policy includes a 14-day return window. Read the details so you know exactly when that clock starts and what conditions apply.
  • The “original price.” A large discount on an inflated starting price is not a deal. Compare the final price with what similar dresses normally cost.

Two minutes with the terms saves a lot of frustration later.

3. Order Swatches Before the Sale Starts

Screens are good at many things, but color is not one of them. A dress photographed under studio lighting, viewed on a phone at a low brightness setting, can look noticeably different from the fabric in your hands. The shades most likely to surprise people are the ones in between, like dusty rose, sage, slate blue, champagne, and burnt orange.

That is why we tell everyone planning a bridal party to look at physical fabric first. Our fabric and color swatches let you compare colors and fabrics before you commit to a full order, including satin, chiffon, silk-like satin, elastic satin, and charmeuse.

A few tips for judging swatches properly:

  • Look in more than one light. Check them in daylight, then again indoors in the evening, since many events happen at night.
  • Hold them next to the rest of the look. Place them beside your shoes, jewelry, and bouquet colors.
  • Compare as a group. If you are choosing for a bridal party, lay all the swatches together. This is where mismatched undertones show up.
  • Mind the timeline. Swatches need time to arrive, so order them at least a few weeks before the sale. If you wait until Black Friday week, you will be choosing colors under pressure.

If you are still narrowing down options, browsing by color helps. Our bridesmaid dresses in burnt orange and champagne, and evening dresses in burgundy and olive green, are popular starting points for fall and winter events.

4. Get Your Measurements Right Before You Click Buy

Sale orders are fast orders, and fast orders are where sizing mistakes happen. People pick a standard size by habit and skip the measurements, then find out the dress does not sit the way they expected.

We offer sizes 0 to 26W, plus free custom sizing, so you do not have to settle for a size that is close. Here is how to use that well:

  1. Measure before the sale. Do it a week ahead, not on Black Friday. Use a soft tape measure, and have someone help you.
  2. Measure in what you will wear. Wear the undergarments you plan to wear with the dress.
  3. Follow the chart. Compare your numbers with our size chart, and read our guide on how to choose your size if your measurements fall between sizes.
  4. Think about length. If you will wear heels, measure to the floor in the shoes you plan to wear. A hem that works with flats can drag with a different heel height.
  5. Choose custom when it matters. Standard sizing works well for many people. If your measurements land across two sizes, custom sizing is usually the safer choice.

If you are shopping for a larger size range, our plus size bridesmaid dresses are a good place to begin.

5. Check the Fabric and Construction, Not Just the Photo

Two dresses can look similar in a product photo and wear very differently. Before you buy, think about how you will actually spend the event.

  • Satin and stretch satin give a smooth, structured look and hold their shape well. Our satin bridesmaid dresses are a good place to compare options. Stretch satin, like in this sheath bridesmaid style, adds ease of movement.
  • Chiffon is light and moves well, which is useful for outdoor ceremonies or long days. In cold weather, plan to layer it.
  • Velvet is a natural winter choice. This velvet cocktail dress with lace is one example for holiday parties.
  • Sequins and beading suit evening events and holiday parties, as in this sequined satin evening dress. Check how the fabric feels if you will be seated for hours or dancing.
  • Lace and layered designs add texture but can change how warm a dress feels. Think about the venue and season.

A few practical questions can help you decide:

  • Will you be dancing, standing, or sitting for most of the event?
  • Is it indoors, outdoors, or both?
  • Do you need sleeves, a jacket, or a wrap for the weather?

If you are shopping for the mother of the bride, we have a range that includes styles with sleeves and styles that come with a jacket. Our full mother of the bride dress collection is organized by length, color, and fabric.

6. What to Buy on Black Friday, and What to Wait On

Not everything belongs in a sale-week cart. Here is how we would sort it.

Good to buy during Black Friday

  • A dress for an event with a confirmed date and venue
  • Bridesmaid dresses once the color and silhouette are final
  • Winter party and holiday looks that need to arrive before December
  • Accessories to go with a dress you have already chosen

Worth waiting on

  • Bridesmaid dresses when the group has not agreed on a color yet
  • Any dress where you have not taken measurements
  • Anything you are buying only because it is on sale

If you are browsing by occasion, the bridesmaid, evening, and cocktail collections cover most winter events.

7. Three Mistakes We See Every Sale Season

Waiting until Black Friday to choose. The sale is a good moment to buy, but a poor moment to decide. Do the research first, so that sale day is only checkout.

Do this instead: shortlist two or three styles ahead of time and save them to your account.

Skipping swatches. It feels like a way to save time. It usually costs more time when a color turns out different from what you expected.

Do this instead: order swatches early and compare them in real light.

Ignoring the production timeline. A made-to-order dress needs time. A sale does not change that.

Do this instead: count backward from your event date before you look at any price.

8. Finish the Look While You Are at It

Winter events call for more than a dress. A few additions are worth adding in the same order, so everything arrives together:

If you want a design that is not in our catalog, our Project Tailor Made service is worth looking into. Because it involves custom work, start early.

Black Friday at Missacc

Our current promotions are listed on our Black Friday & Cyber Monday Dress Deals page, and Black Friday details will appear there as they go live. Before you buy, check our shipping information and return policy so the timeline and terms are clear.

The best preparation takes only an evening: confirm your date, order swatches, take your measurements, and shortlist your styles. With those done, sale day takes ten minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a bridesmaid dress?

Yes, if the group has agreed on a color and style and you have everyone’s measurements. It is a poor time to make those decisions for the first time.

How long does a made-to-order dress take during a sale?

Production takes 10 to 15 days, and shipping comes after that. Because sale periods are busy, leave extra time, especially for events in December.

Should I order swatches before Black Friday?

Yes. Colors can look different on screen, and swatches need time to arrive. Order them a few weeks ahead so you can decide before the sale.

Can I use a Black Friday offer on a custom-size dress?

Custom sizing is free at Missacc, so it does not add a charge. Check the terms of each offer for any exclusions before checkout.

What if the dress does not fit after a sale order?

We have a 14-day return window. Read our return policy for the exact conditions, and use our size chart before ordering to reduce the chance of a mismatch.

When should I order for a spring 2027 wedding?

If your colors and styles are final, Black Friday is a good opportunity. If they are not, order swatches now and buy when you are ready. There is no need to rush a decision that is not settled.

The Short Version

The best deal is the one that arrives on time, in the right color, in the right size. Count back from your event date, look at real swatches, measure carefully, and read the terms. Do that, and the discount becomes the bonus instead of the reason.

Ready to start? Order swatches, then browse the sale when you are ready to buy.
